Fleet Management
Fleet management for international employees
Updated

Companies with international employees run into specific questions in fleet management. Good preparation prevents hassle on arrival and departure.
On arrival
A new employee from abroad often needs transport immediately, but has no BSN or Dutch licence yet. A pool car or short lease bridges that first period.
Licence and insurance
Check whether the employee's licence is valid in the Netherlands and until when. Also register the driver with the insurer or lease company. For cover of your fleet, see business car insurance.
Clear agreements
Set out in the car policy what applies to trips to the home country, private use abroad and what happens if someone leaves early. That prevents disputes afterwards.
On departure
If an employee leaves before the end of the lease contract, the car can be passed on to a colleague or returned. Discuss the options with the lease company in advance. See also fleet management.

As an employer you decide that in the car policy, within the terms of the lease contract and insurance.
How do I arrange transport in the first weeks?
A pool car, rental car or short lease are common solutions.
